St. John the Evangelist

For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. (1 John 3:11)

St. John (15–100) was one of the 12 apostles, the trusted followers of Jesus who witnessed Jesus’ teaching and miracles. Among the 12, John was considered Jesus’ “beloved disciple.” Inspired by the Holy Spirit, John wrote 5 books in the Bible: the Gospel of John, the First Letter of John, the Second Letter of John, the Third Letter of John, and the Book of Revelation. The Gospel of John has helped millions of people to understand who Jesus is and develop a personal relationship with him.
