I’ve been writing books for 25 years now, and I have had many bestsellers. But I have never seen anything like the outpouring of support when we announced the pre-release of Rediscover Jesus. There are more than 11 million books on Amazon, and Rediscover Jesus shot to number four on the first day! It was just behind Harper Lee’s new book, which has been the most anticipated book of the decade, as she hasn’t published anything since she released To Kill a Mockingbird in 1960.
So, thank you! Thank you for all the love and support over the years. And thank you, especially, for your support of Rediscover Jesus.
When I write a book, I send drafts to about ten people who have been reading my work and giving feedback for many years. These advisors tell me this is the best book I have ever written. I hope it touches you in a way that is both powerful and practical and brings Jesus and his message to life for you in a new way.
If you have not already ordered Rediscover Jesus, click here to pre-order a copy today, and enter for a chance to win a trip to Italy with me and the rest of the Dynamic Catholic pilgrims this November.
May God bless you and all those you love,
One of the things I love about our faith is that our God is a God of second chances, fresh starts, and new beginnings.
— From “Rediscover Jesus” by Matthew Kelly
GOD LOVES NEW BEGINNINGS.
Do you ever feel like you need a new beginning? That’s exactly how I was feeling not too long ago. I was tired and frustrated, a little disoriented spiritually, disgusted with some of the things happening in the world and in the Church, and distracted by so many situations that I could do absolutely nothing about.
I probably needed to recite the Serenity Prayer about a thousand times.
God, Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
But I didn’t have the presence of mind to do even that.
At first I just ignored all these feelings and tried to keep busy. But ignoring things doesn’t make them go away. It took a while, but finally I realized that I needed a new beginning.
I love Mondays, because each Monday is a new beginning—a fresh start! God gives us Mondays, and New Year’s Day, and birthdays, and every single one represents a new blessing and a new beginning.
In the Bible we read these epic tales of the incredible ways that God transformed people and their lives: Moses, Noah, Jonah, Jeremiah, David, Joseph, Mary, Peter, James, Matthew, Zacchaeus, Paul, Lydia, Mary Magdalene, the woman at the well, and so many others whose names we don’t know. Why not you and me? Why not now?
God is always waiting on us. Sometimes we may think we are waiting for him, but that is never true.
What’s happening in your life right now? What’s not working in your life? What great question are you grappling with in your heart? Why did you pick up this book? Do you need a fresh start too?
Whenever I get to a place in my life where things aren’t making sense, it always seems that I need to rediscover Jesus.
Jesus is the ultimate new beginning.
POINT TO PONDER: It is never too late for a fresh start.
VERSE TO LIVE: “Ask and it will be given to you; search and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.” MATTHEW 7:7
QUESTION TO CONSIDER: In what area of your life is God inviting you to experience a new beginning?
PRAYER: Jesus, help me to believe that a new beginning is possible.
What will your August be like? You could enjoy creation’s abundance, have an adventure, and accept Mary’s invitation to the table of plenty.
First look around you. August is a time of abundance in nature. Backyard tomatoes are ripening, farm stands and farmers’ markets are teeming with goods, produce departments are overflowing, and yard flowers are abounding with color. Reflect on the beauty around you, and fill your own life with abundance. As Matthew says, spend carefree timelessness with loved ones, enter the classroom of silence, and get to know Jesus better.
August is also a time of adventure. As a child, this month meant the last chance to frolic before going back to school. But don’t leave all the adventure to children! Explore the outdoors—chase fireflies and butterflies, and fly away! Read unread classics and beach books. Visit a holy place.
Finally, in the month August, we celebrate the Assumption of Mary. This is when Mary, the Mother of God, was “assumed” body and soul into heaven. We not only celebrate her beauty, purity, and holiness, but also her final journey—not to Bethlehem for a census or to Egypt to escape death, but to heaven, where we, too, can complete our every adventure and find abundance of happiness.
August is an ideal time to become fully human, to become the-best-version-of-yourself®. I hope you fill it with abundance, adventure, and celebration of the Assumption, and tell me about it!
When I first attended a Matthew Kelly event and heard him talk about the mission of Dynamic Catholic, I was inspired! I wanted an opportunity to be part of the amazing work Matthew and his team were doing. When I received a brochure about The Ambassador’s Club, I saw that I could be part of the mission. I thought, “I can do this,” and signed up.
I want to get to heaven and have God tell me, “Thank you for being part of the great work of Dynamic Catholic.” I am proud to say I am part of that—I am part of this great movement in the Church.
I believe in the work Dynamic Catholic is doing, and I believe everyone can do something to help, whether it is pray for the mission for five minutes every day, volunteer at his or her parish once a month, or donate funds to make the mission possible.
We can all do a little to help inspire the next generation of Catholics. God bless Matthew and the Dynamic Catholic Staff!

Making time for each other isn’t that difficult if you think about how to anchor the time around already established routines at home.
Life is short, and the holidays fly by. Don’t waste this time texting your friends about how crazy your family is making you (even if it’s true). Do your best to be present to them, seek to understand and to love.
Waking up early is a war. It is a battle against the self. You are your enemy. And there is only one way to win the war: Discipline.
When you choose to be the-best-version-of-yourself, when you exercise virtue and strength of character, you impact the world more than you will ever know.
